When I think of Wild Pedagogies…
A collective poem co-created by the participants at the Wild Pedagogies gathering in Greece, in August 2025, and facilitated by Serap Asar Brown.
When I think of Wild Pedagogies,
my wild heart starts beating faster
I think of a philosophy in which I can play and become a child again.
I feel free to think and do things with a lot of imagination in nature
I sense hope, intensity and joy.
When I think of Wild Pedagogies
I remember the joy of teaching and learning through storytelling, drama,
hide-and-seek and listening to nature,
I think of happiness, emotional and hope but hard work needed collectively
mild, vibrant, full, deep, laughing conversations of love
doing fun and exciting things together in a nice place
to try to think differently in perhaps weird ways
I imagine change, movements, curriculum and out of the box pedagogies.
When I think of Wild Pedagogies
I find a way of connecting with myself, the surroundings, and the others
my heart flies to the sky to meet Nirvana
I want to dance… and then I have questions I want to explore!
I want to teach my classes on the land Vandana Shiva style
-to change my university into a wild eco-versity
My heart opens up to the world, the ground, all the beings.
I remember I am free
I feel hopeful
When I think of Wild Pedagogies,
I feel that pedagogy can provide the world with a new opportunity
to let oneself be carried away by the force of nature
I think of longing and belonging
I feel us as the river and the ocean is the teacher who is holding us with humility
Hollow water mountain lightning human, us
I imagine an old woman holding a flower of innocence and purity, just born with loveMy heart feels a hopeful hummingbird’s song
full of excitement for communities of humans, plants and animals living in harmony
When I think of Wild Pedagogies,
I wonder where it has been
My heart fills with a hopeful hummingbird
I think of the elements skit, I think of Bob Jickling
I am optimistic for change
I feel hopeful that our society can and will change
towards a more compassionate and connected community centering all beings
I feel hope for our children
To me, Wild Pedagogies is
a riot of untamed hearts,
an island of lovers not met yet
the fire of unlearning
the blue of the sea meeting the green forests
creating a magical shade of wholeness
When I think of Wild Pedagogies
I feel a challenge to open myself
It takes me back to my roots, to my authentic self,
and reminds me what is written inside and around me, human and more-than-human
I feel the open hearts and lifted spirits, authenticity and uninhabited wisdom
I smile with all my heart
When I think of Wild Pedagogies,
I fall in love with teaching again
I let my creativity and imagination free
I feel so grateful and motivated
I think of possibilities opportunities and action
I feel hope
